The Sale You Shouldn't Have Missed...

Well, technically you haven't missed it yet.
The not-to-be-believed
from Troy and Rod of Junk Exchange is still going strong
and will be through Sunday.
I know that so many of you really, really want to attend,
and please believe me when I tell you that I'm not pouring salt here for those who can't....
but if there's any way possible, you definitely owe it to yourself
to make the drive to Waco to attend this sale of a lifetime.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that to me,
this was at least as exciting as Warrenton, such is the exceptional quality,
variety and rock-bottom pricing of the goods being offered at Troy and Rod's sale.

It's been an incredibly long day, so I'm just going to toss up
as many images as I can of my day at Troy and Rod's
5000 sq ft warehouse with a minimum of narration.
Tomorrow, I'll be posting photos of everything I brought home,
and you will not want to miss those pics!

Let's get going!

There's Troy himself winking at me as I approached the sale.
Cheeky monkey!
Okay, truth be told, the sun was in his eyes,
or the brilliance of the dollar signs he saw
reflected in my eyes caused him to squint.
Whatev.
Meet Troy!

Great pic of Troy, super sucky pic of me,
which is why I made it small and blurry.
Vanity, much?

Shutters and gorgeous vintage wallpaper rolls.

My pile in its early stages.
Oh, trust me, it got bigger!

So many gorgeous watercolor and oil paintings and prints.

A stunning porch glider. Mindy, you really, really need this!

Troy's super sweet sister, who is an absolute doll and a tireless helper.

Please somebody, grab this incredible industrial piece!
It was too big for me to get this trip,
but this would be such a versatile piece for some lucky buyer.
Again, I can see this in Mindy's of Primitiques 'n Poetry's space.

Troy's hussy, Jezebel!

Loads and loads of vintage Christmas.

And I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting
the wonderful Alice of Yesteryears Jewels and JUNKMARKET Style while there.
What a fun lady, and just as nice as she is talented!

I also had the opportunity to meet local gal Jessica of Sugar Moon.
She has a fabulous blog that I recommend you hightail it over to right now!

Cool vintage car stuff.

This vintage scale was only a dollar!
Didja hear me?? A DOLLAR!!!
(Are Rod and Troy nuts?????)
Quite possibly, and lucky for me,
I'm not above taking unfair advantage when the situation warrants it! ;-)

I grabbed each and every one of these. 50 cents each!

They have an epic selection of vintage bottles.
There are tons more in boxes, and only 50¢ and $1 each!

The Dynamic Junkin' Duo hard at work!

More Christmas!

And this....big and chunky and wonderful,
and all mine for a ridiculously low price.
Coming soon to Fiona and Twig, The Booth!

Oh, and one final image for tonight...
Yep, you guessed it.
This....

....incredibly exquisite, achingly delicate watercolor made the trip home with me.
It was a gift from Troy.
Have I mentioned how much I love this man?!?!

My mom and I had the best time ever at the big sale,
and we spent the better part of 6 hours there with
Troy, Rod and the rest of the Junk Exchange gang.
It was a day to remember spent with friends hard to forget.

Be sure to visit me tomorrow as I unveil all my new treasures!

Off to the Races!

Fate was smiling on me today...
I managed to get the day off work tomorrow
so that I could hit the aforementioned
super duper
Will I see you there?
I sure hope so, but just remember,
I've already called dibs on this,
and I have sharp, pointy elbows.

I'm just sayin'.

I'd also like to show a little love
to the awesome Angélique of
She most deservedly was given the
Kreativ Blogger Award twice in one week!

Heck, I'd give it to her every day of the week
and twice on Sundays if it were up to me.
She passed it on to some really great ladies (including me, thank you sweet friend!),
so be sure to head over to her blog
to learn seven things you might not have known about Angélique.

Keepin' it all in the family, Angélique's gorgeous twin sister Misty
just started up her own blog, and if you love Six-n-One,
you will love Misty's blog,

Look at those hot mama's!
That's Misty on the left, Angélique sportin' her trademark tats on the right.
Good looks and talent definitely run in this family!
Please pop over and welcome her to blogging!

Off to bed, I have a big shopping day
and a three hour drive ahead of me.
Lots and lots of pics of Troy's Treasures coming soon!

My 75th Post!

Criminy, do I know how to run my mouth or what??
My first post was August 17th of this year,
and today I'm putting up my
75th POST!
Y'all sick of me yet? (don't answer that!)

I don't have some epic , profound post all saved up for the occasion,
just a bit of this-n-that, but most importantly,
a great big old Texas-sized THANK YOU
to all the wonderful new friends I've made through this blog.

And just so's ya know, we use the word "followers"
a lot here is blogland, but to each and every person who deigns me worthy of following,
I think of you more as a friend not yet met.

And in some cases, (TroySweet TEffie...leaving someone out, I just know it!)
I've already gotten to meet you and give you a hug!
Looking forward to doing the same with
many more of you, as bloggy friends make the transition
into the flesh-and-blood, hug-your-neck variety.
I had to chuckle a bit when I went back today and looked at my very first post...

Fiona and Twig is Born

Greetings All!
 Welcome to the misadventures of a budding shop
 owner. My fully formed blog space will be awhile in
 coming, but just a little info....

Fiona and Twig were two pretty special calico cats in my life.
This blog as well as my shop are dedicated to them,
although you'd be hard pressed to find any cutesy cat knick knacks among my wares.
Dont get me wrong, I adore my felines,
but my tastes run more to vintage, industrial, retro, architectural salvage,
French ephemera, etc.
I am a Respiratory Therapist by trade,
a frustrated, wannabe writer/vintage shop owner/erstwhile superhero by night.

Welcome to my humble corner of the web.
Pax....
Anne
~~~~~~
I didn't have a single comment on that first post, but did that deter me?
Heck no! I pretty much write for the sheer joy of writing,
it feeds my soul in ways nothing else can.
I figured at some point someone besides friends and family
might stumble upon me, and until that time
I'd just keep churning out what I love to do best.
And I'll close with a little taste of what's to come later this week...
Y'all remember this super cute rusty iron,
green corner shelf I picked up last month?
It sold pretty fast, and I just recently discovered it in its new home!
I met a fellow dealer yesterday who has an absolutely incredible shop
just down the street from my antique mall...
turns out one of his compadres grabbed this from my booth
to use for display purposes in his shop. Coolness!
He and his partner have the most amazing little treasure chest of a store.
I was sure to snap lots of pics yesterday,
so look for a post this week on my new-found friends.
My beautiful blogging buddy Jane at
was sweet enough to bestow an undeserved award on me.
Shoot, if Jane wants to find fabulous, all she has to do is look in the mirror!
Another beauty queen blogger! First Kate, now Jane.
Proof positive that blogging is the best beauty treatment going!
I'm an award free blog these days, but thank you SO much, Jane!
You really should go pay her a visit, she's the mastermind behind
Frugalicious Friday, lots of fantastic, frugal fun!
Until then, have a great day, and I love you all!
Sunday Night Gratuitous Cat Cuteness
I've got this vintage washstand just begging for a re-do,
but in the meantime, it's taking up
valuable real-estate in our kitchen.
It's not hooked up to the plumbing nor is it the least bit useful now,
but I ask you, does Winnie look like she gives two shakes???
